Indian Students in Western Australia and Northern Territory


Australia is one of the preferred destination of Indian students for pursuing higher studies especially in the area of vocational education. Western Australia (WA) is emerging as a preferred destination for Indian students, including students from India. India was Western Australia’s 2nd largest market for international students in 2018, accounting for 16 per cent of the State’s international student enrolments. The number of Indian students enrolled in Western Australia was 8,077 in 2018.

India is the second highest country of origin for international students studying in NT. There are approx. 271 Indian students enrolled with Charles Darwin University in NT during 2018. Indian students are also undertaking courses at different vocational training institutes and colleges in a range of areas, including accountancy, finance, community service, aged care, etc.
